Ricci - A Minute Silence
The birds were calling,
so free, nature’s law
When the trenches were silent,
The time was raw
Desolate and scared, we had time to think,
Who would be next? Our lives on the brink,

So don’t count the seconds,
Think of what I say,
When the trenches were silent,
Dark descended on day.
The mud, the death, friend and foe,
We went through the same thoughts, but we just didn’t know.
Think of us for a minute,
Or a little longer,
When the trenches were silent,
We had to be stronger.
So take some time, and close your eyes,
Listen to the birds, high in your skies.
Nature endured,
As if nothing were wrong,
When the trenches were silent,
A minute, so long.
Think of us all, the fight we had,
The panic we felt, the times so sad.
But we’d do it again,
In times so violent,
For a minute more with you,
When the trenches were silent.
